Intellectual Property Management Cell

Head

Others

With India entering into the WTO regime, IICB is now geared up to follow CSIR for maximum benefit by securing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), so that the benefit of research can be extended up to the needs of the common people of our country. Intellectual Property Management Cell (IPM Cell) of our Institute deals with all matters relating to IPR issues of the scientists working in IICB and liaison with Intellectual Property Management Division of CSIR, New Delhi.

The Intellectual Property Management Cell of IICB has prepared a comprehensive and up-to-date patent database of the Institute. This cell is also disseminating all information regarding patents. Information is also provided for all of the queries of Intellectual Property and Technology Management Scheme of CSIR. This cell also provides the commercial working report towards all the in-force patents of IICB for submission to Patent Office of India.

IPM cell of IICB is working in close association with Business Development Group (BDG) in IICB. In case of technology transfer or business tie-ups the IPM Cell provides all the necessary information relating to patents. Recently, quite a few numbers of patents in the field of “Anti-chronic Myeloid Leukemia Activity” and “Anti-prostate Cancer Activity” from herbal sources have been licensed out.

Dr. Mukherjee along with Dr. K.P. Mohanakumar of BDG, IICB had also published an article in the proceedings of R&D Management Conference of CSIR in New Delhi (Mohanakumar KP and Mukherjee T. Indian Institute of Chemical Biology turns a ‘Leaf’ in innovation. R&D Management Conference – 2006 on ‘Innovation : A route to competitiveness in global economy’, March 03 – 04, 2006, CSIR, New Delhi, pp 80-83).
