Current
Research Interest
Main theme of our group is to understand the mystery of glycosylation of biomolecules modified specifically in patients with leukemia and visceral leishmaniasis and their potential applications in medical research.
The following aspects are being investigated:
- Exploration of modified sialoglyconjugates induced on immune cells and plasma/ sera of both host and parasites
- Proteomics of these purified clinically important molecules to identify host protective molecules
- Development of antigen based diagnostic tool and their biological role in Visceral leishmaniasis (VL).
- Investigation of O-acetylated sialoglycotopes in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and the role of the disease-specific antigen and antibodies in understanding the disease-biology.
- Role of glycosylation mainly differential sialylation in adhesion process and cell signaling of hematopiotic stem cell for their potential application in childhood ALL.
- Programmed cell death of cancer cell and signaling
- Understanding of glycosylated molecular variants of human C-reactive proteins, an innate immune component, in relation to different pathological conditions
