HOW TO APPLY
For the session 2007-2008, only those candidates, who have appeared and qualified in the Entrance Test conducted by NIPER, SAS Nagar ,Chandigarh in June, 2007 will be considered for admission to MS (Pharm.) in Medicinal Chemistry,Natural Products and Pharmacoinformatics.

PROCEDURE OF ADMISSION
Admission to MS (Pharm.) programmes will be based on entrance examination organized by NIPER, SAS Nagar. The candidates have to report to NIPER, SAS Nagar, Chandigarh for organized on scheduled date and time as advertised in National dailies as well as in NIPER website. The candidates should come prepared in person with the requisite fees and payments to be paid through bank draft only (Bank draft should be favouring Director, NIPER and payable at Mohali, SAS Nagar),as para 6- ”Fees and Payment” to be paid immediately after the organized, if admission is offered to him/her.

At the time of admission, candidates shall bring with them all the documents in original produced for verification, attested photocopies need to be submitted and requisite fees and payments are to be made

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
The candidates will be required to submit the following documents in original at t he time of organized, failing which, the candidature shall be summarily rejected.

  • Matriculation certificate as a proof of age and correct name.
  • Marksheet of all the semesters of the qualifying degree.
  • GATE/NET Card, wherever applicable.
  • Admit Card of NIPER written test.
  • Certificate of reservation, if applicable.
  • Certificate of disability, if applicable
  • Medical certificate. (Original need to be submitted)

FEES AND PAYMENTS

As per NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab

REFUND OF SECURITY
If the student does not join the programme after paying the dues and leaves the Institute, only security deposit as applicable to each category shall be refunded, provided a written application is made by the student to the Director. No other amount shall be refunded.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
All the selected candidates will be provided with stipend of Rs. 5000 per month subject to obtaining a minimum CGPA of 6.00 in each semester. In case the CGPA is less than 6.00 but more than 5.50 the stipend of the students shall be withheld till he/she obtains the minimum CGPA of 6.00. No financial assistance to be given to the sponsored candidates.

REGISTRATION/ORIENTATION
Every student is required to register before the commencement of each semester in the period mentioned in the Academic Calendar of the institute. The courses offered by the departments will be made known to the students at the time of orientation.
The student has to register in person. A student, who fails to get himself/herself registered, will no longer be considered as a student of the Institute. If a student is unable to appear for registration personally on account of illness or similar circumstances, which are beyond his/her control he/, she may appear for late registration. In genuine cases the Dean/Course Director/competent Authority may approve late registration on payment of late fee. Registration in absentia may be allowed only in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Dean/Course Director/competent Authority.

CREDIT SYSTEM

    • Education in the Institute will be organized around the credit system.
    • Each course will have a certain number of credits which will describe its weightage. The performance/progress of the student will be measured by the number of credits that he/she has completed satisfactorily. A minimum grade point average will be required to qualify for the degree.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA FOR AWARD OF DEGREE

    • The minimum credit requirement for masters degree will be 50 credits including a    minimum of 28 credits of course work and balance credits of project work.
    • The minimum CGPA required for the award of the degree will be 6.00. If the CGPA is more than 5.50 but below 6.00 in any semester, the candidate may be permitted to continue in the programme with certain conditions.
    • If CGPA is below 5.50 in any semester, the student shall be permitted to improve his/her CGPA by repeating in a maximum of 2 theory courses irrespective of the grade.
    • If a student after availing the maximum number of repeat examinations as per rules, fails to clear the course(s) or fails to secure minimum CGPA shall have to discontinue the programme.
    • The maximum period for completion of the Masters Programe will be 3 years from the date of joining the programme.

CAMPUS PLACEMENTS

The Institute will assist the students for the placement in various National and International organizations.
